Abstract: Oceanographic survey winch is the key equipment for marine survey operation and oceanographic research. However, there is a lack of unified technical requirements for this kind of winch that is generally understood and accepted both at home and abroad, which leads to the inconsistent technical indicators and definitions. To solve the problem, the authors studied the relevant rules, standards and technical literature in China and abroad, and puts forward suggestions on the technical indicators and test verification requirements of oceanographic survey winch based on the design experience of oceanographic research ship and the application experience of oceanographic survey winches in recent years, so as to provide reference for the design and application of oceanographic survey winches.

Abstract: The evaluation model and method for marine twin screw pump design are proposed according to the value engineering theory. The value analysis and comprehensive evaluation of the single-suction twin-screw pump are carried out, and the design is modified and optimized based on the evaluation result. The base point coefficient method is used to redistribute and adjust the target cost of key components, so as to achieve the optimal match between function and cost. The resulting value coefficient is close to 1,and the cost is reduced by about 34.6%.

A Comparative Study on Prediction Methods of
Ship Power and Speed Loss in Waves Based on Model Test
LU Zehua, LI Jianpeng, LI Chuanqing
(Shanghai Ship and Shipping Research Institute, Shanghai 200135, China)
Abstract:In order to compare the prediction methods of ship power and speed loss in waves, a 19 000 DWT multi-purpose ship is taken as the research object to carry out the resistance test and the self-propulsion test in regular waves. Three ship power prediction methods recommended by the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC), i.e. the torque and revolution method (QNM), the thrust and revolution method (TNM) and the resistance thrust identity method (RTIM) are adopted together with the empirical corrections on TRM and RTIM to predict the speed loss of the target ship in waves. It is found via comparing the results of prediction methods that the speed loss predicted by the three methods are basically similar at low sea conditions and all within the allowable accuracy range of the project, but the predicted results are generally larger under large wave conditions as they are affected by the linear wave hypothesis. The empirical correction of RTIM proposed in this paper considers the influence of relative rotation efficiency and appropriately reduces the prediction value to make the prediction result closer to that of QNM and TNM, which is proved rationally. This method is recommended to be used for ship speed loss prediction in practical engineering applications so as to save the test time and cost.

(Ningbo Orient Wires & Cables Co., Ltd., Ningbo 315000, China)
Abstract: Shallow water lazy-wave and lazy-S dynamic cables are taken as the research object to establish the theoretical model based on the lumped-mass method, where two kinds of design configurations are compared and analyzed by OrcaFlex, and the dynamic configuration, effective tension and maximum curvature of the cables are obtained taking into account the change of incident direction of environment loads and the large offset of vessel. The dynamic response characteristics of the two design configurations for shallow water applications are elaborated, and it is proposed that lazy-wave dynamic cable should be given more attention to the interference between dynamic cable and adjacent pipelines, as well as the bulking and bending protection near the touchdown point and anchored point, while for lazy-S dynamic cable, attention should be paid to the interference between cable and seabed, as well as the strength design of the clamp. All the conclusions can provide reference for future configuration design of shallow water dynamic cables.

Abstract: This paper discusses the optimization of generator cooling water system based on a WÄRTSILÄ 34DF dual-fuel generator. The reason for the low outlet pressure of the low temperature cooling water centrifugal pump and the insufficient water flow of the high temperature cooling water are analyzed. Then the solution of installing a restriction orifice at the low temperature cooling water outlet is proposed. Its application onboard shows that the restriction orifice with suitable aperture added in the system can control the production cost and simplify the pipeline system under the premise of satisfying the equipment demand reliably.

Abstract: A new KM additive is proposed to improve the comprehensive performance of lubricating oil of internal combustion engines and to prolong the service life of lubricating oil. Its lubrication performances are verified by the friction and wear tests, where KM additives is put into SL 15W-50 lubricating oil, and the contrastive tribological property tests of four-ball, rotary plate-pin and reciprocating plate-pin for steel-steel pair are carried out with UMT-Tribolab multi-function friction and wear tester. At the same time, the morphology of friction is analyzed with a 3D contourgraph and an electron microscope, and the mass loss of test pieces is measured by high precision electronic scale. The test results show that KM additive has good self-repairing ability which can effectively reduce the friction and the wear of steel-steel pairs and improve the anti-wear property of lubricating oil. The anti-wear property of the lubricating oil is much better after the additive is added.

Abstract: The stress measurement technology for the modular assembly of arrayed pipes is studied to provide the measurement analysis tool and the theoretical basis for the calculation method of the in-field arrayed pipe assembly stress. ANASYS software is used to perform the finite element analysis of the 3D entity based on the self-developed 3D flexible platform and the stress measurement data. The result shows that the technology can realize the accurate simulation of the installation environment of the arrayed pipe units of the whole ship, which eliminates a large amount of in-field pre-assembly installation work, shortens in-field pre-assembly cycle and reduces material waste, and thus significantly improves the accuracy as the pre-assembly results are transferred to the real ship.

Abstract: When 2D drawings combined with process documents are used as the expression of the complex ship design and construction process to guide the segmented assembly and construction, the correlation between the 2D drawing and the model is not so clear and the process expression does not cover everything it should explain.
