Chapter 3 of the first series of Marintec Innovation Webinar focuses on "advanced digital system"- a hot topic concerning the digitalization of maritime industry. The keynote speaker of this series, Dr. Martin Stopford, Non-executive President of Clarkson Research Services Limited (CRSL), will bring us his latest research results and viewpoints, and joints together with Mr. Li Yanqing, Chairman of ISO/TC8; Mr. Christian Møller, Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of Kongsberg Digital, a subsidiary of the well-known global maritime systems supplier Kongsberg; and Mr. Ronald Spithout, President Maritime of Inmarsat, the pioneer and world leader in mobile satellite communications, to provide professional opinions on the technical challenges of "digitalization" faced by maritime industry, and discuss the "Intelligent" road of maritime industry with the attendees from different countries and regions around the world.

Dr Stopford is currently Non-executive President of Clarkson Research Services Limited (CRSL) and Director of MarEcon Ltd. He is visiting Professor at Cass Business School, Dalian Maritime University and Newcastle University and has an Honorary Doctorate from Solent University. His publications include “Maritime Economics” 3rd Ed, the widely-used shipping textbook (2009), now translated into Japanese, Greek, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean and Turkish. Also, many papers on shipping economics and ship finance.
Awards: Lloyds List Lifetime Achievement Award 2010; Seatrade Global Shipping Personality of the Year 2013; Onassis Prize for Shipping 2015; Capital Link Shipping Leadership Award 2016.

Mr Li Yanqing

Mr. Li Yanqing graduated from the Department of Ocean and Marine Engineering, Tianjin University, and obtained his Master’s Degree in Management in the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. He successively served as the Deputy Director of the Economic Research Center under China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, Director of China Shipbuilding information center, and International Department Director of China State Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. At present, he is Chairman of ISO/TC8,and Secretary General of China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry.
Mr. Li Yanqing has long represented China to take the post in the Technical Committee on Ships and Marine Technology,Organization for International Standardization (ISO/TC8). He was the Secretary General of ISO/TC8 (2007-2010), vice chairman of ISO/TC8 and member of CSAG (2010-2015). He was awarded "ISO/TC8 Special Contribution Award" due to his creative work in maritime and shipbuilding standardization. He became the executive chairman of ISO/TC8/SC3 during the period of 2014-2016. Then he has served as chairman of ISO/TC8, and convener of WG10 Smart Shipping Since 2016.
As chairman of ISO/TC8, he led the team to make pioneering achievements in stipulating the rules of the international shipbuilding and ocean industries, and was awarded the "Lawrence Archer Leadership Award" by ISO who is the first Chinese chairman winning the honor.

Mr Christian MøllerSenior

Kongsberg Digital
Christian Møller is Chief Technology Officer in Kongsberg Digital. In this role, Møller plays a central part in the development the company’s existing products and also the new ventures such as Vessel Insight platform and Kognitwin Digital Twin.
Møller previously worked in research for Microsoft HQ. He holds a PhD in 3D technology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of Cambridge.

Mr Ronald Spithout

Ronald is responsible for Inmarsat’s maritime business and its global commercial strategy and execution in merchant marine, offshore energy, fishing, passengers and leisure markets. Based on a strategy of customer intimacy and channel engagement the Maritime Business Unit is effectively driving themes of ‘Digitalisation at Sea’ and ‘the Connected Vessel’ to deliver long-term sustainable growth for Inmarsat in the sector.
Previous roles include: Inmarsat, President Enterprise Business (2012 – 2014); StratosGlobal, Senior Vice President Global Marketing and Sales (2006 – 2011).
